Hensley names new Chief of Staff

TOPEKA – Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley announced today that Kerry Gooch will become his new Chief of Staff.

Kerry Gooch served as Executive Director of the Kansas Democratic Party from 2015 to 2017.  Most recently, he was campaign manager for the Paul Davis congressional campaign.  Gooch is a graduate of Kansas State University.  He replaces outgoing Chief of Staff Will Lawrence, who is joining the Governor-Elect Kelly administration staff.

“Kerry’s ability to work well with others and previous experience in the political process make him a great fit to be Chief of Staff,” said Hensley.  “The Senate Democratic caucus is looking forward to working with him as we prepare for the 2019 session and beyond.”

Gooch was born and raised in Wichita.  He is the grandson of former Democratic State Senator Rip Gooch.
