2 medical marijuana bills expected to be introduced to Kansas Legislature, report says (KMBC News)

Two different bills are being drafted to make medical marijuana legal in Kansas, KSNT-TV reports.

Lisa Ash Sublett, who founded the group Bleeding Kansas, helped last year to introduce the Kansas Safe Access Act amendment to legalize medical marijuana. The House rejected it.

Bleeding Kansas is pushing a new bill that will be sponsored by State Rep. Gail Finney. The second bill, considered more conservative, will be sponsored by Sen. Tom Holland.

Sublett told KSNT that Holland’s bill leaves out important pieces, like the ability for patients in rural areas to home-grow marijuana.

Both measures are expected to be introduced in the coming weeks.
