Will Lawrence, Chief of Staff

Will Lawrence is the Chief of Staff for Kansas Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley.

Will grew up in Burlington, Kansas, where he graduated from Burlington High School in 2005.  He attended Washburn University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2010 and his Juris Doctorate in 2013.

Will is licensed to practice law in both state and federal court in Kansas.  He served as Legislative Director and Policy Advisor to Kansas Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley from 2010 to 2013 and Legal Counsel from 2013 to 2015.

In 2015, Will joined the law firm of Fagan Emert & Davis, L.L.C. as an associate attorney where he represented clients in matters including labor and employment, criminal defense, and voting rights.  In 2017, he rejoined Senator Hensley’s staff as Chief of Staff.  He has also served as Legal Counsel for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 304 in Topeka since 2013 and top attorney for the Kansas Democratic Party’s Voter Protection team in 2016.

In his spare time, Will enjoys running and spending time with his friends and family attending different sporting events.

Lauren Tice Miller, Communications Director

LTM HeadshotLauren Tice Miller is the Communications Director for Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley, where she has worked since January 2013.

Prior to joining Hensley’s staff, Lauren worked as the Director of Communications and Event Planning for the Kansas Pharmacists Association and ran her own communications business working with small businesses and nonprofit associations.

In all, Lauren has more than 10 years of experience in the communication field, including teaching public speaking, serving as the Assistant Basic Course Director for public speaking, working in communication roles for non-profit associations, and owning her own business.

In 2011, shortly after Governor Brownback signed legislation to defund the arts, Lauren signed up to work as an intern for the Kansas Democratic Party to help defend the state she has always called home. She split her time between the internship and building her small business. She closed her business upon acceptance of her current position.

In April 2015, Lauren ran a successful school board campaign and was elected to the USD 450 Shawnee Heights Board of Education. In addition, she serves on the advisory board for the graphics technology program at Washburn Technical Institute.

Lauren holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies along with a Certificate in Technical Writing from Kansas State University.

She and her husband, Matt, live in Topeka, and are proud parents to two children.
